Welcome to Vista de Olas...
Infinite Sunsets in Malpais

An evening at Vista de Olas...

Relaxing at the edge of an infinity pool - one that looks out to an endless Pacific horizon - scenes of surfing, horseback riding, and couples strolling along white sandy beaches...

Is pure magic.

Top things off, every single day - right around six o'clock...

Vista de Olas
A Glowing Ball of Fire, Melts into the Sea

Watching a glowing ball of fire, gently melt into the sea...

It's a place, you'll never want to leave!

...

Another incredible stay - here on Rich Coast...

From our journey by car to Playa Carmen, to experiencing a delicious meal, great accommodations, and a dazzling sunset view - please read on to learn more...

This is Vista de Olas

A tiny fishing village, southern-most point of the western Nicoya Peninsula - located just south of popular surf towns, Carmen and Santa Teresa...

Vista de Olas Carmen
The Day Winds Down, in Malpais...

Malpais Costa Rica, is the perfect escape.

...

Heading southwest from Cobano - hub of the southern Nicoya...

It was only about a half hour drive, when there off in the distance - heading downhill, toward the Pacific Ocean...

That gorgeous azul horizon, first came into view.

...

Arriving at the T-intersection in Carmen - same spot to find surf shops, restaurants, a couple banks, bars (including the popular "Coco Loco"), and a number of other neat places...

Vista de Olas Quad
This Will do the Trick!

Next it was left, making our way toward Malpais - the entrance to Vista de Olas...

Seen on the left, at the very bottom of the hill.

And yes - about that hill.

If you're getting to Vista de Olas on your own (like we did)...

Be sure to have a 4x4 vehicle, as the road to the top is pretty steep and sandy.

Quads and 250+ motorcycles - will also do the trick!

...

Arriving at the hotel - we made our way over to the infinity pool, eager to check out these views that so many people had talked about.

And no...

Vista de Olas
Paradise Found.

They certainly didn't fail to impress.

Wow!

We could see *quite literally* for miles along the coast... past Carmen, Santa Teresa, Manzanillo... even all the way up to Coyote, Carrillo, Samara, and beyond.

Mom and Dad, with Roger

...

Not too long, after we arrived...

We met up with Roger, owner (both he, and his wife Heidi) here at Vista de Olas.

A really warm welcome...

He was recommending we set aside what food we wanted to eat (more on this in a bit) - as very much as we'd heard...

Their nightly, do-it-yourself, sunset-side barbeque dinner is quite popular!

...

On to our room...

Vista de Olas
Villa #5, Our Room at Vista de Olas

We made our way down, around the side of the cliff - to the end of the path at Villa #5.

Super private, and great view of the coastline...

Vista de Olas Stars
Bathroom View

What a beautiful little place.

Very clean.

And complete, and complete with a sofa aside from the bed - to sleep one more person.

Our favorite part by far though...

Was the outdoor bathroom - crafted, to maximize those spectacular, city-lightless, Malpais starry nights...

Awesome!

...

Well, dusk approaching...

Next, it was back up pool-side - time to enjoy one of THE BEST sunset views...

We'd ever laid eyes on.

Infinite Sunsets

Back up top...

Some guests and visitors had arrived - gathering in and around the infinity pool.

Drawing near atardecer (translates to "dusk" or "getting dark" in English) - a quietness slowly took over, the sun beginning its gradual descent on the horizon.

There was no doubt about it...

Enjoying the Sunset at Vista de Olas

This was easily, one of the most amazing experiences to date - here on the Rich Coast.

...

Of course, the night was just beginning!

Vista de Olas Barbeque
DIY Barbeque at Vista de Olas

Time for dinner - we made our way over to a large, open barbeque area (complete with salad bar)...

And began cooking the fish (I'm pretty sure it was either dorado or red snapper) we'd set aside, earlier.

DIY...

It was fun, preparing the meal on our own - free to eat at our leisure, and also...

To grab the odd drink, by the pool-side bar.

Just further added, to an already relaxing - and very Pura Vida! atmosphere, here at Vista de Olas.

And speaking of which...

Vista de Olas Sunset
A Very Pura Vida! Atmosphere

Another incredible view, of that gorgeous setting sun...

Gasp.
