Tree Houses
Rising Sun, a Luxury Tree House

It's a place *you've just got to* visit, on your next trip to the Rich Coast.

...

Here on this page of the site - yet another firsthand recount - an incredible place for a night cap, here on the Rich Coast...

Please read on to learn more.

Arriving at Hidden Canopy

Pulling up to the entrance at Hidden Canopy Tree Houses, in Monteverde - just after an exhilarating zip lining experience (quite the popular activity here) - and immediately...

Tree Houses Main House
The Main House

We were taken back.

...

Picture-perfect, right there on the side of the mountain...

Situated right at the very edge of the rainforest - the main house offers some of the best views in the area.

And especially on a day like this.

We could see for miles - out over the Gulf of the Nicoya, leading out to the Pacific Ocean.

Throughout the grounds - plenty of birds, flowers, and plants...

It was green in every direction.

...

Tree Houses Mom and Dad and Jenn
Mom, Dad and Jenn

Inside the main house, we were greeted with warm welcomes - staff and guests, alike.

And we also had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer King - owner and visionary of Hidden Canopy Tree Houses.

...

Showing us around...

We were impressed.

And not just with how kind and welcoming she was, excited to share some interesting information and stories -- but in addition...

That wonderful 'feeling of home', it gave off.

Tree Houses Cat
Chillin'

And this is so true.

The main house is Jenn's home.

Nice open kitchen area.

Intimate reading den.

A large-windowed veranda - offering those same breathtaking views, I'd mentioned before...

She opens her house so that all of her guests can enjoy it - relaxing, and taking it all in.

And that's just what we did.

Talking with staff, and some of the other guests.

And even getting to know her three gorgeous feline friends (I've never encountered such friendly, well-mannered cats)...

Again - it was that feeling of home, that we all agreed - made Hidden Canopy so wonderful.

Well, that and of course...

The tree houses!

Luxury Tree Houses

Outdoors once again - Jenn leading the way...

Tree Houses Sloth
Looking for Sloths

We were walking along a path, heading straight into the rainforest...

Off to see the luxury tree houses, here at Hidden Canopy.

Sharing stories along the way - Jenn excited to tell us all about the hotel, and how it came to be...

We also learned about some of the wildlife in the area.

...

At one point, she pointed to a tree where a sloth had been living for some time.

Interesting to learn...

Sloths rarely come down to the ground, once they've discovered their "favorite spot", and spend the majority of their lives, in and around one single location, in the jungle.

...

A little ways further, and very soon enough...

Tree Houses Sign
Pathway to Paradise

Glade and Eden, were upon us.

...

Stepping inside Glade - and just as you might expect, from a luxury tree house accommodation, hidden amongst the rainforest of Monteverde, Costa Rica...

...

Tree Houses Windows
Nestled in the Middle of the Costa Rican Rainforest

It was absolutely amazing.

...

Tree Houses Glade 2
Glade Interior

Floors, walls, ceilings and furniture - made (and carved), from only the finest wood.

Windows strategically sized and placed...

Maximizing both sunlight and green, at every opportunity.

Best of all though...

Was the feeling.

Like we'd been whisked off, to some fairytale land - the line between *staying in a hotel* and *living in the jungle*...

Effectively blurred.

...

Back down the path once again - next, it was off to Neverland - another tree house here at Hidden Canopy.

And just before the entrance...

Tree Houses Fish
Feeding Koi Fish, at Hidden Canopy Tree Houses

We stopped to feed some koi - living in a person-made pond, yet one more thing, contributing to such a unique experience.

Tree Houses Art
Tree House Artwork

And yes - uniqueness, is certainly at the very core - here at Hidden Canopy.

Each of the tree houses...

From structure, to layout, to interior design - carefully selected art, adorning the walls of each one...

Offers something completely different.

And not only this...

They're all quite private, too.

Located not too far from the main house, where you first arrive - the spacing is just perfect - ample relaxation and solitude.

Tree Houses Tree House
An Environmental Mindset

...

Something that can't go unmentioned - and this is really important...

Is the way, in which each of the tree houses was built.

Each one, is situated on a large steel structure, green - so it blends in with the surroundings...

And completely detached from the trees themselves.

So much thought and consideration went into here - ensuring minimal harm to the environment.

Just one more reason, why we loved this place - and felt so lucky, to experience it.

And yes, it gets better...

High Tea

Back at the main house, 5 o'clock rolling around...

Tree Houses Tea
High Tea at 5 O'Clock

We made our way to the veranda, where some of the other guests had gathered...

Wine, tea, and some tasty-looking treats! in hand.

And yes, this was one of the best parts of all.

Great company.

Relaxing.

Once again, just taking it all it.

...

What a perfect ending to a perfect day - the sky taking on a multitude of colors...

Tree Houses Sunset
Sunset

Sun setting over the Nicoya Peninsula.

Even into the evening...

Tree Houses Frog
Mom, with a Tree Frog

...

Tree Houses Den
Relaxing in the Reading Den

We made ourselves feel right at home.

Activities

Another great thing about Hidden Canopy Tree Houses, is its location.

Tree Houses Sky Trek
Costa Rica Canopy Tour

Just north of town, all of the very best things to experience here...

Are really close by.

...

Something that's *must do* during your stay in Monteverde...

Is a canopy tour (zip line) experience.

We visited Sky Trek, just up the road - and had a blast - zipping from tree to tree.

...

We also made time to traverse the "hanging bridges"...

Tree Houses Hanging Bridges
Visiting the Hanging Bridges of Monteverde

Great opportunities for an even closer look, at the astounding nature here in Monteverde - including a chance encounter, with one of Costa Rica's most sought out birds...

The elusive resplendent quetzal.
