Costa Rica waterfalls...
Hidden, back and away in the jungles - the Rich Coast boasts some of the most spectacular displays of falling water - of anywhere in the world.

And it's not just the falls that attract...
In and amongst these cataratas - thriving ecosystems exist - flora and fauna of all different kinds.
On a journey upriver - in various parts of the country...
It's common to spot monkeys like capuchins and howlers, birds like toucans and scarlet macaws... and many other native species.
...

Quite the memorable experience - and very first waterfall, I had the pleasure to visit...
Is Catarata del Toro - located about an hour north of Sarchi.
Not nearly as well-known as say, La Fortuna, La Paz or Montezuma...
Here you can witness a four hundred foot stream of water...
Crashing into a dormant crater below.
It's an unbelievable - surreal even - sight. And at one point along the road leading up to it - the water is rich in sulphur - giving it a vibrant turquoise color.
Well here then, let's take a look (and an adventurous one at that!) - at various waterfalls, here on the Rich Coast.

Rare in the world, does a freshwater river - empty directly into the ocean... in the form of a catarata. Join me for a lesser-known route to this beautiful spot.
La Paz Waterfall Gardens
Close to Alajuela - home of the Juan Santamaria International Airport, the beauty of La Paz - waterfalls included!... are not to be missed.
Montezuma Waterfalls
Tucked back, up and away - in the jungle of Montezuma, these waterfalls are some of the most impressive in the country. Care to take a leap?
